This Week’s Activities and Upcoming Events!

This Thursday’s meeting will once again be at 8:00 pm, but this time we are in Brantl Hall (located in Dickson Hall). The speaker will be Jon Hayes, who will be speaking on “Is Jesus the only way to Heaven?”

There will also be a prayer meeting at 7:00 pm in Dickson Hall, either in room 436 or Brantl Hall if it is available.

Afterwards, we will be going to the rec center to hang out and play video games, so bring your ID!!!

Other Announcements:

JCRU!!! The last Friday of every month is JERSEY CRU! All Crusade campuses in New Jersey meet for an evening of worship and praise at Rutgers New Brunswick. Rides will be provided. The next JCru will be on February 24th, so be sure to sign up on Thursday to guarantee yourself a ride there and back. Also, check out the Facebook event here.

Women’s Bible Studies start this week! There are two different times available- Mondays 8-9:30pm and Wednesdays 4-5:30pm, both in Williams 3E in the Village. Facebook event here.

Men’s Bible Study also starts TOMORROW! They will be meeting at 1pm on Wednesdays in Williams 4I in the Village. All are welcome!

This Week At Cru! <3

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This Thursday’s meeting will once again be at 8:00 pm in Cohen Lounge (located in Dickson Hall). The speaker will be Mr. Bosch, who will be speaking on God’s Love.

Afterwards, we will be going to:

RADIATE 2011: Day 2

Today started off super early- well, for college standards. The first main session was set to begin at 9:00am, so we all headed down around 8:40am to get a good spot in line to enter the room (first rule of Radiate- if you want to sit near the front, be outside the door waiting half an hour before the session starts).

Unfortunately, I am now ending the day at 2:30am, having just concluded 2 hours straight of playing ninja with students from across the region. As such, I am going to have to postpone the rest of these updates until I have time to sit down and do them thoroughly- and not when I really need to get to bed.

So look for a LOT of new information come the New Year, and have a blessed celebration of it with your friends and family. :)

RADIATE 2011: Day 1

Merry Belated Christmas, everyone!

This is Melissa, your web mistress, posting from the very end of day one at Radiate here in Baltimore Inner Harbor, Maryland. As usual, I will be posting at the end of each day with a summary of what we did, as well as tweeting continuously throughout the entire conference. You can follow our twitter at @MontclairCru. :)

RADIATE 2011, Day 1

The day started off with hours and hours….and hours…. and hours of driving. My car took a grand total of 6 hours to get here, with the longest journey from our school being 7 hours total! Finally, we all arrived- most of us had to go to late registration, but none of us missed the events this year! Thank the Lord for that!

5:30pm- Campus Time! All of us who were here from Jersey Metro met up in Salon D, for getting to know you games and basic info for the remaining campus times this week. :) Afterwards, we all split up to go with some of our staff members to various food places around the harbor for dinner. (Personally, I went to 5 Guys- for the first time ever)

7:30pm- Main Meeting: our very first main meeting of the week started off with some fantastic worship led by the Bridge Band, followed by the introduction of our emcees- Shelby Abbott and “Bullet”.

The night’s featured guest speaker was Roger Hershey. He talked to us about freedom, and how to free ourselves from areas of our lives where we feel bound and restricted.

Freedom- the power to do what’s right

Scripture: John 8:30-32

Believe- to be persuaded of something, to put our confidence in it

If you remain (abide) in His word, you are truly his student (disciple).

“Know” the truth.

Know- an experiential or relational knowledge, beyond the intellectual

Knowing the truth -> freedom

Only when we really know our sin can we actually know the truth of God.

The Word of God and the People of God
1- Read & Study
2- Hear & Discuss
3- Books You Read
4- Memorize & Meditate
5- Recall in the Moment

The more Godly things you put in your life (and therefore more truth), the less room there is for lies and worldly things.

The more you know the truth, the easier it becomes I defend yourself from lies in the moment that they appear.

Ask Yourself:
What bondage do I experience?
What are the lies that I am believing?
What is the truth that I need to know do that I can be free?

Radiate Update!

As you all (should) know, the Cru winter conference, Radiate 2011, is coming up from December 28th thru January 1st. We would love for you all to prayerfully consider coming, and now there’s even better reasons why!

If you register by Monday, December 5th, you only have to pay $229.00.
If you register AFTER the 5th, you pay $255.00.
This price includes all conference events, as well as the hotel rooms- all you have to pay for is food!

BUT! If this is going to be your first time going to Radiate, we have a special surprise for you. Those who are first-time conference goers get a $125 discount!

New room this week!!! (& the schedule)

Just as a reminder, this week we will be having our main meeting in University Hall room 1030 at 8pm.

Also, not that this week is a bit different. Here’s the schedule:

Thursday:
Prayer from 7-7:45 in Dickson Hall room 436.
Main meeting at 8pm in University Hall room 1030.

Tuesday THE 29TH!!!
Men’s time at 6pm in the Student Center, as per usual.

Prayer Walk Today!

As we have announced, today is our Prayer Walk!

We will be meeting in front of the Student Center at 3pm to begin, before traveling from building to building around campus in prayer. We will be praying for out campus, our fellow students, the professors, administration, and our ministries.

If you are going to be late, or want to join up with us later or leave early, THAT’S OKAY! Just text Eden, or anyone on the prayer team to find out where we are. :)

CRU @ 8:00pm in Cohen Lounge at Dickson Hall. Join us for a time of worship, followed by our featured speaker, Alex Houser! There will also be discussion on the evening’s topic, and plenty of fellowship. All are welcome, so feel free to stop by! ***NOTE! Next week we will be in University Hall!

Monday-

Leadership. If you are feeling God’s call to join our leadership team please contact our President, Chelsea Piper from the Contact Us page above.

Men’s Time @ 6:30pm. Meet in Student Center lobby. Join for a time of mens-only fellowship with your fellow brothers in Christ!

Additional Announcements:

Prayer Walk. On Monday, November 7th at 3pm we are planning a Prayer Walk on campus, where we will walk from building to building, praying as we go for the campus, the professors, and our fellow students. We will be meeting on the front steps of the Student Center. You can come and go as you please, we’ll be moving from building to building. Contact Eden if you are late, and she’ll tell you where we are!

Secret Servant will be starting soon! Keep an eye on your email this week if you signed up to see who you have!
